Róisín White, Lay Her Down Upon Her Back | book

Lay Her Down Upon Her Back by Róisín White examines the 1880s "Rest Cure" – a treatment that confined women deemed nervous, anaemic or hysterical to bed rest, overfeeding and isolation. Through found photographs and archival material, it connects this history to today's mistrust of women's pain. Breadfield Press, 2023. 200 pages, 12 x 18 cm. First edition of 600 copies.
